This article presents a project undertaken at IDC, IIT Bombay in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It holds historical significance as an early exploration of what later came to be recognised as design research thinking, before it was formally articulated. Presented in a narrative style, the article also serves as a natural bridge to a broader, holistic framework for design — Arupa: The Implicate Order.
